GDANCE Academy Terms and Conditions
Important Information
These terms and conditions form a binding agreement between GDANCE Academy and students/parents/guardians. Please read carefully before enrolling. If you have any questions, please contact us at admin@gdance.com.au.
Payment Terms
Fee Structure
All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, except where required by Australian Consumer Law
Fees include: coaching, registration, administration, insurance, holiday workshops, Summer School, mock exams, exam preparation, costume hire, rehearsals, photo sessions, presentations, awards, and professional advice
Fees exclude: event entry fees, tickets, personal items (class attire, tights, shoes), make-up, food, and optional purchases like multimedia
Exam entry fees are charged separately and will be clearly communicated in advance
Classes are not held on public holidays unless specially arranged with advance notice
GST is included in all quoted fees
Payment Process
Monthly payments are automatically processed on the 1st of each month via your nominated payment method
The first annual payment occurs on January 1st
New enrolments after January 1st require a pro-rata payment calculated from the enrolment date
Enrolment automatically continues month-to-month unless cancelled in accordance with our cancellation policy
You are responsible for any bank/card fees charged by your financial institution
Failed payments will be reprocessed within 7 days. You will be notified of any failed payments
Late payments incur a $50 administration fee if not resolved by the 15th of the following month
Persistent non-payment may result in enrolment suspension and referral to debt collection
Cancellation Policy
30 days written notice is required for cancellation
Notice must be sent to admin@gdance.com.au and acknowledged by us in writing
Cancellations take effect from the end of the notice period
Failure to provide 30 days notice may result in charges for the following month's fees
Emergency cancellations due to serious illness or family circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis
Academy Policies
Class Participation and Conduct
Students must wear appropriate GDANCE-approved attire as specified in our dress code
Physical contact from teaching staff may be necessary for corrections, demonstrations, costume fittings, and first aid purposes
Students with medical conditions, injuries, or special needs must inform the Academy before their first lesson
Students participating in Performance Teams must maintain enrolment in corresponding weekly classes
Private lesson eligibility requires Performance Team membership with satisfactory attendance
External Activities Policy
Students may participate in external dance activities with Director's prior written approval
This policy exists to prevent scheduling conflicts and ensure student wellbeing
Security and Surveillance
For the safety and security of all students, staff, and property, our studio is equipped with security cameras that record audio and video in teaching and common areas. These recordings are used solely for:
Security and theft prevention
Incident investigation and dispute resolution
Student safety monitoring
Insurance claim verification
Only authorised management personnel have access to recordings, which are automatically deleted after 30 days. By enrolling, you consent to being recorded during studio activities. Recordings may be reviewed for safety concerns, disciplinary matters, or incident investigation. Students and families uncomfortable with this policy should not enrol.
Health and Safety
Students showing signs of illness may be isolated and required to leave for the safety of others
Students must wait inside the premises if parents/guardians are late for pickup (additional supervision fees may apply for extended delays)
GDANCE is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items. We recommend not bringing valuable items to class
All original choreography remains GDANCE Academy intellectual property and requires written consent for external performance
Intellectual Property
All teaching methods, choreography, and class materials are proprietary to GDANCE Academy
Students may not record, photograph, or reproduce classes without written permission
Student images and videos may be used for promotional purposes unless you opt out in writing
Insurance and Liability
Our Responsibilities
GDANCE maintains appropriate public liability insurance
We provide qualified instruction and maintain safe premises
Teachers supervise students during scheduled class times only
We will provide emergency first aid when necessary
Your Responsibilities and Acknowledgements
Dance involves physical activity and carries inherent risks of injury
Students participate at their own risk
Parents/guardians must ensure students wear appropriate attire and equipment
You must promptly inform us of any medical conditions that may affect participation
You are responsible for all fees, charges, and any medical expenses not covered by insurance
Limitation of Liability
GDANCE Academy, its staff, and teachers are not liable for injuries or accidents except where caused by our gross negligence or breach of statutory duties that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.
Consumer Rights
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies rights guaranteed under Australian Consumer Law where such exclusion would be unlawful. Where services fail to meet consumer guarantees, you may be entitled to a remedy under Australian Consumer Law.
Privacy and Data Protection
We collect and use personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, available on request. We may share necessary contact information with volunteers for legitimate academy purposes.
Value Packages and Special Programs
Package inclusions are fixed as specified at time of purchase
Classes within packages are not interchangeable without prior approval
Special terms may apply to intensive programs, which will be clearly communicated
Suspension and Termination
GDANCE reserves the right to suspend or terminate any student's enrolment for:
Non-payment of fees
Breach of academy policies
Disruptive or inappropriate behaviour
Safety concerns
Reasonable notice will be provided except in cases of serious misconduct
Refunds are not provided for suspensions or terminations due to student conduct
Dispute Resolution
We encourage open communication to resolve any concerns
Formal complaints should be directed to admin@gdance.com.au
We will respond to complaints within 14 days
Unresolved disputes may be referred to relevant consumer affairs authorities
Changes to Terms
These terms may be updated periodically
Significant changes will be communicated with reasonable notice
Continued participation constitutes acceptance of updated terms
Acknowledgement and Agreement
By enrolling in GDANCE Academy, I acknowledge and agree that:
I confirm that:
I have read, understood, and agree to comply with all terms and conditions
I understand that dance activities involve physical exertion and accept inherent risks
I will promptly inform GDANCE of any relevant medical conditions or changes
I will ensure the student is properly attired and equipped for classes
I am responsible for all fees and charges as outlined
I understand the cancellation policy and payment terms
I consent to:
Necessary physical contact from teachers for instructional and safety purposes
The use of photos and videos of the student for promotional purposes (unless I opt out in writing)
Emergency medical treatment if deemed necessary by academy staff
The sharing of contact information with GDANCE volunteers when required for academy purposes
Audio and video recording as outlined in the surveillance policy
I acknowledge that:
This agreement is legally binding and continues for the duration of enrolment
My rights under Australian Consumer Law are not affected except where lawfully excluded
I have had opportunity to seek independent legal advice if desired
These terms are effective from 01/01/2025 and supersede all previous versions.
